Library Trust Fund

The Army and Navy Club Library Trust is a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity. Its IRS-approved charter sets for the following responsibilities: to collect, restore, and display military-themed artworks and books for the edification and pleasure of its members and to enrich public understanding of the numerous books, historical treasures, and artifacts in its possession.

Since 2010, the Trust Committee’s efforts have included:

  • Complete renewal, renovation, and themed display of 3rd and 4th floor hallway artwork displays.

  • Digitization and recording of all previously displayed 3rd and 4th floor artworks.

  • Acquisition, presentation and display of the Roy Boehm (First SEAL) personal sword.

  • Acquisition and retention from the Roy Boehm estate of Roy Boehm career original research materials.

  • Acquisition from the Smithsonian of a high quality digital reproduction of the original George Washington Lansdowne portrait by Gilbert Stuart for display in the Main Dining Room.

  • 15 March 2014 Reception and Symposium “A Beautiful Law of Nature” (co-sponsored by Smithsonian Institution Freer Gallery of Art and the Abbot Handerson Thayer family) panel of art and camouflage experts.

  • March through September 2014 exhibit in the Iwo Jima/John Paul Jones Room “A Beautiful Law of Nature” highlighting the Camouflage works of Abbott Handerson Thayer.

  • Ongoing library display of 1909 edition Concealing-Coloration in the Animal Kingdom 

  • February 2014 display of the William Woodward mural sketches in the Eagle Grill.

  • March 2014 display of the 1920 Sloane watercolor depiction of the 1920 Club interior in the Main Dining Room.

  • April 2014 display of the General Schofield portrait and the Club’s 19th century handwritten District of Columbia Articles of Incorporation in the main lobby.

  • August 2014 renovation and display of main floor portraits and frames (in conjunction with main floor renovation) Loan of two pieces to the White House Historical Society for their War of 1812 Exhibit.

Donations

Please contribute to the Library Trust so that the Committee is able not only to continue improving the Club’s library and fine art collection, but also to sponsor more events. All contributions are tax-deductible. The Trust is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) entity. Contributions can be made monthly by informing the Club Finance Office that you wish to include a tax-deductible donation in your monthly invoice.
